Beginner running groups in Leeds
If you are new to running, or want to get back into running, these groups are for you!
The Leeds Athletic Network has set up beginner running groups all over Leeds running from parks, leisure centres, local schools and community centres. These groups have been set up to show that running is for anyone.

Groups meet on different days of the week, mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Who can join?
Anyone who has:
- Never run before
- Jogs occasionally
- Used to run
Women-only groups are available.
All groups are open to ages 12+, and some groups allow children. If you have any health queries please feel free to discuss them with the group leader.
What happens at a meeting?
On the first session you will be taken through the basics, eg. warming up, jog 1 minute, walk 1 minute, cooling down and stretching.
Who will lead the group?
Each group is lead by an England Athletics qualified leader who will have been checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and holds public liability insurance. The leaders have many years experience in running and want to pass on their knowledge and encourage more people to start running.
