Municipal golf courses
Founded in 1923 Temple Newsam golf course was designed by Alister Mackenzie (who also designed the Augusta National where the US Masters is held). There are two 18-hole courses - the Lord Irwin and the Lady Dorothy. The Lord Irwin is longer and more challenging than the Lady Dorothy, but both courses are a real test of golf. Roundhay is a classic nine hole course which is 5322 yards with a par 70 which will suit beginners or experienced golfers who just want to get in a quick round.
Opening hours vary according to the time of year but are normally dawn till dusk. Booking is essential on a weekend so don’t miss out.
