General swimming

We offer a range of casual swimming sessions aimed at people of varying abilities and all ages.

Please click on the related page below entitled Swimming timetables which has the timetables for all of our pools across the City.

We offer swimming lessons for adults and children, as well as fun sessions either with water play equipment or with a large inflatable.  Children must be able to swim 25 metres and be under 16 to use the inflatables.

The swimming programme may vary during school holidays and on bank holidays.

Family swimming

All of our Leisure Centres have dedicated Big Splash family swimming sessions. Families are also welcome at any of our General Swimming sessions. For a timetable please go to the page for the leisure centre you want to go to.

Family swimming price is for up to 4 people (maximum of 2 adults). We also have a Big Splash family reward card. Every time you go for a family swim it will be recorded on your card so that you get every fifth visit for free. Just ask for a card at reception next time you visit your local pool, then remember to get it stamped each time you attend a family swim session. The more you visit, the more free sessions you and your family can enjoy!

Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult (16+).  One adult can supervise a maximum of 2 children under 8. Adults must be accompanies by children for family swimming sessions.

Adult and toddler swimming

We run both casual and coached adult and toddler swimming sessions.

Casual sessions are available for adults with children. Maximum of 1 adult to 2 children. For details of session times please see the related pages below.

Coached sessions are available generally through booking a course of lessons. These sessions are available for children from 4 months to 4 years at the foundation stage of our learn to swim scheme. These stages provide an opportunity for children to develop water confidence and very basic motor skills through structured fun and games sessions. Maximum of 1 adult to 1 child.
