Ensuring your child learns to swim could not only save their life but is really an essential life skill opening up a world of opportunities for social and health benefits.
Learning to swim has to be fun from the start and our swimming lessons have been developed to use fun and games to take children from their first splash to full competence in the water through 10 stages, with clear progression between each stage.
All our teachers are level 2 ASA qualified. Our teachers are experienced and ensure children learn to love the water from their very first splash.
British Gas ASA Learn to Swim Pathway
Lessons at all our centres now follow the national ASA Learn to Swim Pathway, an all-inclusive programme designed to take a non-swimmer and develop their skills to achieve their full potential.
Lessons are divided into stages where children learn fundamental movement skills before having the opportunity to develop in a specific aquatic discipline. At each stage there are a range of outcomes the child must achieve in order to progress to the next stage. An overview of these outcomes can be found in the ‘guide to swimming lessons’.
Stages 1 to 7 teach children to become competent swimmers.
Stages 8 to 10 give children the chance to develop aquatics skills in diving, lifesaving, competitive swimming, water polo, synchronised swimming and the silver and gold Challenge Awards.
