Mechanical hazards

Contact with moving parts on machinery can have serious consequences, ranging from cuts, bruises and punctured skin to crushed limbs, amputation and even fatality.

Here's an example of a dangerous mechanical hazard. The picture on the left is of an unguarded rotary blade. On the right is a demonstration of how a Leeds worker amputated three fingers whilst using a similar blade without guards to cut a roll of tape.
