Welcome to Walkit Leeds. This is sign A34
Walk it Leeds is a project aimed at making it easy for you to make your way around Leeds City Centre on foot.
This sign gives you clear, easy-to-read mapping of the local area. It shows you the main shopping areas in yellow, places to eat and drink in orange, and other places of interest in purple.
The map is known as ‘heads up’, which means the map is orientated to the direction you are looking at it, rather than having north at the top.
The sign is also solar powered, so the map should be backlit if it’s before 9pm and if it’s dark.
This sign was installed in October 2012 and the map was last updated in November 2011. If you spot any mistakes or damage, we’d be pleased to hear from you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0113 2474685.
You are at sign A34 near the historic Leeds Kirkgate Market, the spectacular market hall opposite was built in 1904, and it is where Michael Marks, who founded Marks & Spencers, set up his first Penny Bazaar. Leeds Kirkgate Market is now the largest covered market in Europe.
