Want to lose weight and keep it off?  Here you will find lots of tips to help you make small and realistic changes to your diet and increase your level of physical activity so that you can lose weight and keep it off.

If you are overweight, you will have a greater chance of developing heart disease, back and joint pain, depression and certain cancers.

Losing weight will reduce your risk of diseases, help you manage your moods, and help you feel more confident about yourself.

Local help
Your chances of losing weight and keeping it off are much better if you and your family get support. There are local services that will help you lose weight free of charge called Weight Ahead and Watch it (see the external links section for more information on these services).
  • Weigh Ahead is the Leeds Weight Management Service run by Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.  The team is highly skilled and have the specialist knowledge and experience to help you eat more healthily and exercise more.  
  • Watch It is the Leeds Family Weight Management Service run by Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. The team is highly skilled in working with children and young people and their parents. 
  • You can also get support to lose weight by joining a local Weight Watchers or Slimming World club.
