What happens to your black bin waste

We don't take all of the waste Leeds residents put in their black bins and bags to landfill any more.

Some of the waste goes to new recycling plants that can recover things from your black bin like paper, cardboard, plastics and wood. If it's not good enough to use to make new products it can also be made into a fuel which is used in power stations.

See our other pages for information on how you can reduce your waste.
