 Weight Limits

Weight restrictions are used to limit the impact of heavy goods vehicles.

The introduction of a restriction is therefore considered where there is a significant volume of goods vehicles using a road, route or area which is not appropriate and has a detrimental effect on the surrounding environment and safety.

Weight limit restrictions are also considered to prevent damage to buildings and bridges.

Imposing a weight restriction is subject to promoting a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) and the associated procedures.
