Signpost works intensively with families, our aim is to have settled families and safer communities.
The type of referrals Signpost work with includes:
- Families who are involved in high levels of Anti-Social Behaviour
- Where a member of the family is a prolific offender
- Families at risk of breakdown and where there is a risk of children being taken into care.
Signpost works citywide; our teams work with the hardest to reach families in their homes and the community. Intervention consists of one to one support, therapeutic support, family and group work including parenting courses, support to access educational provision and youth groups.
Signpost delivers bespoke support for families based on their needs, and works with a range of other professionals to ensure the right support is being put in place to enable the family to make the necessary changes. Families can stay involved with Signpost for up to a year and their progress is reviewed by the family themselves along with a range of professionals every 12 weeks to ensure that they are achieving their goals. Every family has a designated Family Intervention Practitioner.
Families can also access Sessional Support Workers, who work with individual young people in the evening and on weekends. Their role is to encourage and motivate the young people, assist them to attend local youth work programmes and support them to make the right choices for their future.
