Road Safety for Secondary Schools

As road users, young people can be particularly vulnerable, especially when walking, cycling, as vehicle occupants and as young drivers.

One of the aims of the Road Safety Unit is to provide children and young people with Road User Education, in partnership with parents and schools, which should prepare them to become safe, responsible road users as they gain experience and begin to make independent and more complex journeys.

The DfT Think Education website will support head teachers and senior leaders in planning and delivering the most effective way to help young people aged 11–16 to stay safe on the roads.
