If you would like to speak to us by phone in your own language about a council service use the search or the contact us page to find the service you need.
We will ask you to tell us which language you speak and then we will be able to quickly find you an interpreter.
We can also arrange for someone to speak face to face with you at one of the council’s one stop centres across the city. Please use Find My Nearest to see where your closest drop-in centre is and find their contact details to arrange an appointment.
We also provide an interpreting and translation service for other public services.

To make sure it easier for deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users to access Council services, we have teamed up with SignVideo to provide SignVideo Access Points at some of our One Stop Centres and SignVideo Web Access to enable people to access this service from their own devices.
SignVideo Access Point
Allows you to communicate instantly with our Customer Services through an online professional BSL video interpreter who will talk to the person you would like to contact and sign their responses to you. This is a FREE service which is available Monday to Friday during normal office hours.

SignVideo Web Access
Allows you to contact the Council from your own device. Go to the link below and click on the SignVideo BSL Live logo. You will be connected to an online professional BSL interpreter, tell them you are calling Leeds City Council. This is a FREE service which is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
The first time you use SignVideo BSL Live you will need to download a one-off LiveVideoPlugin. This enables good video quality and ensures that your calls are secure. Once you are connected to the Web Access page just follow the instructions.
SignVideo BSL Live is compatible with most computers, tablets and smartphones. Before using please check that you have these basic requirements. You will need a webcam; PC or Mac; iOS or Android device; Microsoft Internet Explorer, Chrome (PC version only) or Safari; bandwidth of at least 256kbp/s upload and 384kbp/s download.
