Jobsearch advice and support

The following services are available for anyone wanting to find a job, run their own business, be self employed or become an entrepreneur.

  • Jobshops provide a free drop in service to help you find work or training
  • Work Clubs provide help with networking and supporting you back into the job market 
  • Enterprise Clubs can help you become self employed or set up your own business
  • Leeds Inventors Group offers an opportunity to mix with other inventors and get advice from people involved in the business of protecting and exploiting new ideas and products

How do I register for the Jobshop?

When you visit your local Jobshop, a member of staff will go through a Jobshop Registration form with you. You will need to provide personal details such as your name, address, National Insurance Number and details of which benefit you claim if you do so.

What happens to my personal details once I have registered for a Jobshop?

All personal details are put onto a secure Leeds City Council database. Leeds City Council has policies to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. It also has
policies to ensure the confidentiality of information collected. In order to
provide an efficient service and help you to find training or employment, it may be necessary for Employment and Skills to share information within Leeds City Council and with partner organisations. If you do not wish to share your information, you have the option not to.

Do I need to be claiming benefit to use a jobshop?

No you don't have to be claiming any benefits to use a jobshop. The jobshops are open to all residents living in Leeds.
