If you have a child protection concern about a child or family living in Leeds and you are a member of the public phone Children’s Social Work Services on 0113 222 4403 between 8.30am – 5pm. If you are a professional person involved with the child or family phone the Duty & Advice team on 0113 376 0336 between 8.30am to 5pm. If your enquiry needs a response from children’s social work services outside normal office hours, please phone the Social Care Emergency Duty team on 0113 240 9536. If you feel that a child is immediately at risk please contact the emergency services on 999. Child protection concerns in many cases can be complex and will need a considered response from Children’s Social Work Services and the wider children’s services partnership. Therefore, there is a requirement for both members of the public and professionals to act promptly in seeking advice and raising concerns. If you are unsure you may first like to discuss your concerns with someone who works with children and families, e.g. your health visitor, social worker, school nurse or teacher (all schools have a teacher responsible for child protection). The Leeds Safeguarding Children Board brings together representatives of each of the main agencies responsible for promoting children’s welfare, and helping to protect children from abuse and neglect. For further information about the Leeds Safeguarding Children Board website please visit their website using the link provided on this page.
