Registration law change

The following statutory services will be chargeable from the 1st November 2017: All short birth certificates, changes or additions of a forename to a birth registration, correcting an error on a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate, clearance of a divorce from any country other than UK and application to reduce the 28 day notice period for marriage or civil partnership. European Passport Return Service

The European passport return service (EPRS) is provided for EEA (European Economic Area) and Swiss nationals applying online using the EEA(QP) or EEA(PR) application forms as part of the process of applying for permanent residence with the benefit of not having to surrender your passport.

To use this service you must:

  • hold a current EEA/Swiss passport
  • have completed an online application to the Home Office for a Permanent Residence Card or Registration Card
  • be applying as an individual not a family or couple
  • be able to attend at the Register Office within five working days of making your online application

Leeds Register Office can photocopy your EEA or Swiss passport and forward a copy, along with your checklist and application, to the Home Office on your behalf. Your passport will then be available for you to use while your application is being processed.

The Home Office may contact you for further information after your application has been submitted.

Using the European passport return service does not guarantee the success of the application and we cannot offer any advice. Please also note that this service will not ensure that your form has been correctly completed nor that the correct supporting documents have been submitted.

A fee of £40.00 is payable, which includes guaranteed delivery of your documents within 2 working days.

Appointments are available between 8:45am and 12:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

To book an appointment please email us or phone us using the above contact details. It is not possible to book an appointment in person.

  • Your online application confirmation clearly showing your Payment Notification Number
  • A hard copy of your completed application form and any supporting documents. Please note that this is only for forwarding to the Home Office, and will NOT be checked or photocopied by us. Your should ensure that you have your own copy before attending our office
  • Your current EEA / Swiss passport

Click to expandWho must attend the appointment?

You and any family members you have included in your online application who are over the age of 15 years and 6 months should attend an appointment in person within the Home Office required time scale of submitting your application form online. We aim to provide appointments as quickly as possible but due to the current popularity of the service we cannot guarantee that we can always provide an appointment within 5 days. Therefore please book an appointment with us before completing your online application with the Home Office.
