The Cultural Learning Team
Our role is to ensure that all children and young people in Leeds have equal entitlement and access to music and arts, play, physical education, sport and outdoor learning. This is achieved through working with schools, local communities, Leeds City Council teams and the arts and cultural sector.
There are 3 strands to the Cultural Learning Team:
- ArtForms – Music and Arts Service including Artemis (arts and artefacts lending scheme for schools).
- Play – the development and delivery of play opportunities for children and young people across the city.
- Physical Education, Sport and Outdoor Learning
Through these strands of work, we offer an extensive range of arts and cultural programmes. These take place in and out of school hours, either delivered by ourselves or brokered through our partnerships.
Leeds City Council is committed to every child and young person having access to high quality cultural learning experiences both in and out of school.
Cultural learning builds emotional and intellectual experience. It increases skills, knowledge and understanding and can be a powerful transformational force in peoples lives.
Children and young peoples’ involvement in cultural learning is key to the success of Leeds to be the best city in Britain and central to the Councils aim to become a Child Friendly City.
