Additional school places for reception 2017

Additional school places for reception 2017

Due to rising pupil numbers across the city, 2016 was a peak year for the number of children starting school in Reception class and additional places were created in some areas of the city to help manage this demand. We are expecting a lower number of applications city wide for 2017, but there are some areas of the city where additional places may be required and we are working in partnership with schools to secure these where needed. In addition there are a number of schools where permanent building expansions have been taking place and these places will be available for September 2017.

Details about the permanent admission numbers for schools are on this website and in our booklet, however where additional places have been agreed for September 2017, these are listed on this page and will be updated regularly so please check back. You can use our Find a school page to search alphabetically for individual school's information and admissions policies etc. Places will be offered on primary national offer day (18 April 2017) in line with school admission policies. We will be monitoring all areas for unexpected peaks in demand and if additional places are required after offer day we will provide updates here.

A permanent location for the proposed Roundhay Park free school has not yet been determined and it will therefore not be opening in time for September 2017. The Education Funding Agency (EFA) which is part of the Department for Education, is responsible for free school site acquisition and continues to negotiate on suitable locations. In order to meet the demand for places in the North Leeds area for September 2017, Leeds City Council has been working with schools to agree the additional primary places that will be needed. We can confirm that bulge cohorts have been agreed at the following schools:

Moor Allerton Hall Primary School: 30 additional places (90 places available in total);

Allerton C of E Primary School: 30 additional places (90 places available in total)

Immaculate Heart Of Mary Catholic Primary School: 30 additional places (90 places available in total)

We continue to work with all schools in the city to find solutions for the growing demand on school places.
