Finding private rented accommodation

Leeds has a large private rented sector, with a variety of property types and sizes across most areas of the city.

Why rent with a private landlord when I want a council house?
Many people find that private renting is a positive way to solve their housing needs. It can be a very quick way to get your own home. For properties under our Private Sector Lettings Scheme, you won’t need to pay a bond before you can take a property. We will also help you complete a Housing Benefit claim if required.

I have never rented a property before, how does it work?
We inspect every property to ensure:

  •  it is in good condition
  • it is safe from hazards
  •  it meets fire regulations
  • it has had gas and electrical appliances checked and up to date certificates to prove this.

How do I find out what properties are available?
If you would like to find out more details about renting a property through the Private Sector Letting Scheme please contact 0113 2224412 or use the Contact Us section at the bottom of this page.
