Parking on double yellow lines is illegal, at any time of day or night

If you break the parking regulations, you will get a penalty charge notice "parking ticket" and depending on the seriousness of the offence you will be charged either at the higher rate of £70.00 or lower rate of £50.00.

The longer you wait before you pay the penalty charge, the more it will cost you. If you pay within 14 days of getting the ticket, the charge is reduced by 50% to either £35.00 or £25.00. If you haven't paid after 28 days, the charge will eventually increase to a maximum of £110.00.  We may then take legal action against you which can involve using bailiffs to recover unpaid penalty charges and there will be further costs to pay.

How to pay a parking penalty

There are three ways that you can pay your penalty charge:

Online atwww.leeds.gov.uk/epayments - you can pay by credit or debit card (24 hour service)

By telephone - the easiest way to pay is by debit or credit card on the 24-hour payment line - 0113 395 7100.

By post - write to Parking Services, PO BOX 139, Leeds LS9 1AA, quoting your parking ticket reference number and enclosing payment. Cheques should be made payable to 'Leeds City Council'. Please do not send cash through the post.

What to do if you want to appeal against a penalty charge notice

If you think you've been incorrectly given a parking ticket and you want to appeal, contact us by completing the online penalty charge notice ('parking tickets') appeal form by using the link below. Alternatively use the contact details on the top right of this page.  Please tell us clearly why you think you shouldn't have been given a parking ticket.

If we receive your appeal within 14 days the ticket will be frozen at the discounted amount of either £35.00 or £25.00, until you receive a decision on your appeal. If unsuccessful you will be given another 14 days to pay the discounted amount from the date of the decision.

Once we have given you a parking ticket it cannot be cancelled by a parking attendant, so please do not ask. Threatening behaviour, verbal or physical abuse towards parking attendants or any council employee will not be tolerated and will reported to the police.

What to do if your vehicle has been removed

Your car may be removed if it is parked so that it interferes with traffic flow, blocks a road or is dangerous to other road users. If your car has been removed please contact us and we can let you know where your vehicle is and how to get it back. You will have to prove that you own the car and you will have to pay a release fee for your vehicle.
