Bike Week 2010

Bike Week
“Everyday Cycling for Everyone”

Bike Week is one of the largest annual cycling events which hosts many different rides and campaigns nationally throughout the UK. It aims to promote cycling as a fun yet healthy way forward, from leisurely cycling to everyday commuting.

This year Bike Week will be held between 19th and 27th June 2010.

Leeds has seen a rise in the number of cycle lanes and tracks, opening up cycling opportunities to more people and helping make cycling an attractive way of travel for short to medium length journeys.  Leeds City Council wants to encourage more people to cycle and does this through the annual promotion of Bike Week publicising rides and offering different events to encourage everyone to get on their bikes as often as possible.

So why not join the cycling community this summer, make a note to attend one of the events during Bike Week and start on your way to ‘Everyday Cycling with Everyone!’

The Bike Week 2010 campaign will focus on challenging people to use cycling as the most appropriate option in their everyday lives. Bike Week encourages participants to make ‘everyday cycling for everyone!’

How you can join in!

Bike Week is open to everyone so if you fancy leading a ride why not register your event in Leeds events listing leaflet. The Council’s TravelWise Team will publicise events for free in 15,000 copies of the Leeds Bike Week leaflet.

Alternatively if you a novice cyclist or new to cycling why not search the ride listing and choose an event or activity that is suitable for you.

Whether it’s off- road cycling, or smooth road routes, rickety mountain biking, or leisurely fun picnics you're sure to find a ride that’s right for you and your family. Most of the events that run during Bike Week are free to enter.
