Proposal to stop girls-only secondary education in Leeds

The council's Executive Board has approved a wide-ranging city-wide consultation on a proposal to stop providing girls-only secondary education in the city.

This consultation began on Thursday 7 January and runs until Friday 5 March. We have arranged public meetings across the city, which begin at Parklands Girls’ High School on Monday 18 January.

Details of the consultation are being distributed to libraries, schools and to key stakeholders like ward members, MPs and local media. Full details of the consultation are  also available on the Education Leeds website, go to: www.educationleeds.co.uk/schoolorganisation and click on secondary reviews and consultation.

There is also a consultation running over a separate proposal to close Parklands Girls High School and replace it with a co-educational (girls and boys) Academy, sponsored by the EACT, in September 2011. Details can also be found on the website.
