Leeds is one of the country’s most up and coming cities – prosperous, exciting and the region’s centre for culture, clubbing and shopping – a great place to grow up in. But not all of Leeds' people have had their fair share of the action and that is where Leeds City Council’s Youth Service comes in.
We work to engage and support those young people in the most need, living in areas of social deprivation or struggling against discrimination. Our service is targeted at areas of the city and groups of young people with the most needs.
Our local area teams provide a core service across the city and a network of specialist and innovative projects covering : quality work, community cohesion, health education, issue-based group-work, individual support work, residential and outdoor activity centres, as well as support for Leeds Youth Council and MYPs and responsibility for a huge range of out of school activities.
We offer advice and guidance sessions for young people on a number of topics relevant to young people. These include drugs, sexual health, education, employment opportunities, cultural diversity and equality.
The Youth Service makes a key contribution to Leeds City Council’s commitment to "Closing the Gap", ensuring that all citizens can share the benefits of Leeds’ prosperity.
