Anyone who has been affected by flooding in Leeds is being advised to report incidents to ensure they receive the support they need.
While flooding hasn’t reached the scale of that in Calderdale, staff from Leeds City Council have been working through the night to help residents affected by localised flooding in the Allerton Bywater area.
Staff have been distributing sand bags and pumping floodwater with gully tankers, alongside staff from the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and West Yorkshire Fire Service.
Having been on the scene, Councillor Keith Wakefield and Councillor James Lewis, want to ensure that anyone who needs help gets it.
Councillor Keith Wakefield, leader of Leeds City Council said:
“People who’ve had their homes or businesses flooded, or who just can’t get to where they need to be, are going through a really difficult time.
“It’s really important that people report any incidences of flooding so appropriate action can be taken.
“I want to reassure everyone that we’re doing all we can with our partners. Although river levels have peaked, we’ll be watching the situation very closely.”
River levels are now reported to be steady but it could take some time before levels start to drop.
