Local transport information: Finding your way to Temple Newsam.

By bus: The number 10 bus runs directly to Temple Newsam House throughout the Easter school holidays until the end of the Autumn School Holidays. Visit First Buses website for more information at http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/leeds or call 0845 6045460

By train: The nearest train station is Cross Gates, located 1.5 miles away.
By car: Temple Newsam is just off the M1 (junction 46 from the South and junction 46 from the North). If you are using a route planner, our postcode is LS15 0AE.

Parking: There are a number of car parks available at Temple Newsam for visitors, most of which have designated disabled parking bays.

House car park - Close to House and within easy walking distance to the Stable Courtyard and Home Farm, this car park has ample flat parking and is patrolled. Please note that charges apply except for blue badge holders.

Home Farm car park - This large free car park is close to Home Farm, the walled gardens and the grounds.
The Lodge car park - A small car park close to the North Plantation.
Stable Courtyard - very limited disabled parking with preference given to people who have pre-booked electric scooters.
Relief car park - This large free car park is a short uphill walk to the main attractions, but close to a large playing field.
Walled Garden - limited disabled access spaces are available directly outside the Walled Garden.

Coaches are advised to park in the House car park.

  • The House is shut on Mondays. The Farm and Tea Rooms are open on Mondays during summer time school holidays only.

    Summer (BST - ends 26 October 2014) opening hours (Tuesday – Sunday)
    The House: 10.30 - 17:00, The Farm: 10:00 - 17:00, Tea Rooms: 10:00 - 16:30 (17.30 on Saturdays and Sundays).

    Winter (GMT - starts 27 October 2014) opening hours (Tuesday – Sunday)
    The House: 10.30 - 16:00, The Farm: 10:00 - 16:00, Tea Rooms: 10.30 - 16:00.

    Please note that;

    Last admission is 45 minutes before closing.
    The House, Farm and cafe are open on bank holidays, excluding Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Day

    Visitors are advised that it is occasionally necessary to close the house between 12.30pm -1.30pm. Visitors are advised to check on the day.

    Tickets are valid for the entire day on which they are purchased.
