Local transport information: Finding your way to Temple Newsam.

By bus: The 19 and 19A buses run to Whitkirk, 1 mile from Temple Newsam House. (Exit at Whitkirk church and walk down the Colton Road to the Estate). The 10 bus runs directly to Temple Newsam House during school holidays from Easter to October half term.

By train: The nearest train station is Cross Gates, located 1.5 miles away.
By car: Temple Newsam is just off the M1 (junction 46 from the South and junction 46 from the North). If you are using a route planner, our postcode is LS15 0AE.

Parking: There are a number of car parks available at Temple Newsam for visitors, most of which have designated disabled parking bays.

House car park - Close to House and within easy walking distance to the Stable Courtyard and Home Farm, this car park has ample flat parking and is patrolled. Please note that charges apply except for blue badge holders.

Home Farm car park - This large free car park is close to Home Farm, the walled gardens and the grounds.

The Lodge car park - A small car park close to the North Plantation.

Stable Courtyard - very limited disabled parking with preference given to people who have pre-booked electric scooters.

Relief car park - This large free car park is a short uphill walk to the main attractions, but close to a large playing field.

Walled Garden - limited disabled access spaces are available directly outside the Walled Garden.

Coaches are advised to park in the House car park.

    The shop, café and farm will be open as usual.


    Summer opening hours: Tues – Sun 10.00am - 17.00pm (and Mondays during school holidays)

    Winter opening hours: Tue – Sun 10.00am - 16.00pm
    Last entry is 45 minutes before closing

    Tea Rooms:
    Winter opening hours: Tues – Sun 10.30am - 16.00pm
    Summer opening hours: Mon – Fri 10.00am - 16.30pm; Sat - Sun 10.00am - 17.30pm

    Please note: Last admission is 45 minutes before closing.

    The House, Farm and cafe are open on bank holidays, excluding Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

    Tickets are valid for the entire day on which they are purchased.
