The Art Team
Site: Leeds Art Gallery
KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4, Early Years, KS5
This workshop is led by museums staff.
Want your students to work with a real-life artist? Are you working on the Arts Award? Wondering which artist to work with?
Then we might be able to help! We have a team of DBS (formerly CRB) checked freelance artists with diverse art skills are available to lead practical sessions matched to your chosen theme. Using Gallery artworks as starting points, artists will work alongside you and Gallery Education staff to design workshops that can contribute to a range of school delivery areas.
Their activities can contribute to Art and Design QCA units or skills in a specific art practice from imaginative drawing to sculpture and special occasion hat design. Our dancers, theatre performer and specialist in early years creative activity could add something to PE, literacy, or delivery of the Foundations for Early Learning. They could also: enhance creativity and imagination as part of an Arts week; develop deeper understanding of a topic; introduce issues linked to PSHCE; make connections between different ideas and learning; contribute to extended services; or be commissioned to produce an artwork for the school in partnership with pupils and staff.
Studio sessions can be half-day or full-day and can take place at Leeds Art Gallery or in school. If funding allows longer projects can be supported. For further information on the artists and their interests or ways of working, please go to the Art Team page of the website.
