Site: Armley Mills
Key stages:
KS1, KS2
Subject areas:
History
This workshop is led by museums staff.
What's involved?
The Schoolroom brings history to life at the Armley Mill Industrial Museum by allowing classes to experience Victorian or 1940’s lessons in role. The Victorian schoolroom session gives pupils the opportunity to explore the timetable of a typical school of the School Board era 1870-1901. In an authentic classroom pupils follow a timetable based on the 3 R’s under the watchful eye of the school “ma’am”.
These sessions are run by Education Leeds and Artemis, the School's Loans Service. For more information contact the Victorian Schoolroom at Armley Mills on 0113 279 7326 or visit Artemis on the Education Leeds website.
