 Poetry Competition

Leeds City Museum invites you to enter a new poetry competition entitled ‘Growing Older’.

The competition opens on 16 May 2017 and closes at noon on 1 August 2017.

We want to encourage as many people as possible to enter, writing poetry in any style, exploring the concept of growing older, whatever that suggests to you. 


Categories:
Adult Poetry — ages 18 and over
Children and Young People’s category up to 17 years


Prizes
In addition to their prize, winners will have the opportunity to give a reading of their poem at a celebratory event at the museum on 1 October 2017 at 2pm.

1st prize – £100 voucher
2nd prize - £50 voucher
3rd prize - £25 voucher

Judging
The judging panel for ages 18 and over will be led by Dr Lucy Burnett and, from Leeds University, Nasser Hussain and Helen Perkins. Winners will be contacted directly, and we will announce winners of each category on here and social media by the end of September.
