Whether you are besotted with beetles, mesmerised by mummies, smitten with sculpture or fascinated by fabrics, we have something to interest you in our collections. The amazing range of objects across our sites are the source of inspiration for our exhibitions and events programme, community projects and academic research.
Over one million objects collected since 1819 give us all insights into the evolving natural world, human history and culture. These are collections which reflect Leeds as a vibrant and changing city and place Leeds in a global context. Through our collections we can discover and learn from the past in order that we might make sense of the present and prepare for the future. The collections in Leeds are particularly special - our collections of natural history, fine and decorative art and industrial history have been Designated as collections of national significance.
All our curators are working to make all our collections as available as possible. Our new Discovery Centre brings the bulk of our collections together under one roof and as we work, more of our objects available through our searchable online database.
