 Family Fun

Entertain the family with something different! We have a huge range of activities, from dressing up to special tours and much more!

Wander the recreated Victorian streets of Leeds and enter the enchanted shops and houses to discover what life was really like in the 1850s.

Follow the streets upstairs and explore the Childhood Galleries, marvel at 19th Century dolls houses and toys. Pop an old penny into our amazing collection of working penny slot machines.

Take a break in the cafe and then step outside to use the children's play area or wander over to Kirkstall Abbey and explore the abbey grounds!

Muddy Monkeys - under 5s craft activities
(Tuesdays, 10am-11am - please check our What's on website for up-to-date listings)
Fun, free messy and imaginative craft play activites for under fives and their carers. Please remember that we like to get messy and if the weather is nice we like to play outside too.

Visit Stephen Harding Gate, the 19th century equivalent of a modern high street, for some old fashioned retail therapy. You can even take a break in the Hark to Rover Inn, a recreated model of a Victorian drinking house!

The poorer residential district of Abbey Fold examines life and death in Victorian times. Compare the warm comfortable home of the successful pawnbroker with the chilly premises of the undertakers.

Wonder at the displays showing rare and interesting 19th Century toys, games and dolls in the shop on Harewood Square - you can even take your place for class at the local Methodist Sunday school!
