We have a fantastic array of events for you this half term - from dinosaur bones at Leeds City Museum to a whole week of fairytale fun at Lotherton Hall.

Get out and about at the 3-day Kirkstall Abbey markets, explore Thwaite Island or take a trip to Leeds Wool Festival.

​Abbey House Museum

Comic art photography
30 May, 11am-4pm, 31 May 12pm – 4pm
Acclaimed photographer Sophie Lee will deliver a 2-day teen workshop on comic art photography.

Comic art pop up make up workshop  
Thurs 1 June 12pm – 4pm
Explore the Comics exhibition and create a mood board, then try out unique comic pop art make up!

Leeds City Museum 

The Dinosaur Returns 
Sat 27 May – Sun 4 June, opening hours (including bank holiday Monday from 11am) - FREE 
The dinosaur bones are back on the map for the May holidays, with fossils to investigate, crimes to solve, costumes to wear and dino things to craft. On the spot prizes for dino-tastic fancy dress 

Leeds Industrial Museum

Leeds Wool Festival 
3 June - 10am – 5pm
Back for a 4th year, Leeds Wool Festival is a celebration of all things woolly! This year, the festival will feature more market stalls where you can buy all your crafting supplies and much more.
We'll have a demonstration area where you can see spinning, felting and a few other techniques in action! Catch the film Yarn the Movie in our amazing 1930s cinema! The fantastic WI pop up café will be back, plus livestock, performances, workshops and more!

Kirkstall Abbey

Kirkstall Abbey Markets 
27 – 28 May, 12pm-3pm - FREE
Come along to Kirkstall Abbey where you can try and buy some of the best produce Yorkshire has to offer. All our products are locally sourced and are produced and supplied by award winning people with a passion for food. You will also find jewellery, fashion and collectables.  


Fairytale Week  
Follow the traditional tales trail and get lost in your imagination in Lotherton’s own fairy tale. With storytelling, storybook crafts, dressing up and a fairytale picnic on Thurs 1st June.

Temple Newsam

Silver Service fit for a King
Sat 27 May - Sun 4 June 
Follow the silver trail throughout the house. Discover a recreated Victorian silver service banquet and try have-a-go silver crafts.

Thwaite Mills

Animal Island 
27 May to 4 June
Join us for a week of fun exploring animal and insect life on the island, with activities suitable for all the family, including your dogs. There will be nature packs, art kits, and the chance to make a butterfly or dragonfly.
