If you have objects, artworks or collections at home that you want to keep in the best possible condition, some of the advice below may help.
If you have objects at home such as watercolour paintings, prints or drawings, it is best to display these out of direct sunlight. It is also best to use low wattage light bulbs to avoid colour fading.
Avoid using any cleaning products on items you want to conserve. Ceramics can be dusted with a soft cloth or carefully cleaned with warm water. Seek advice from a qualified conservator regarding the care of antique textiles.
If you are storing objects at home, pack them well in acid free tissue to protect them. Remember to mark on the outside of the box which way up it is to be stored. If possible avoid storing objects in extreme temperatures or humidity.
