Shown in the pictures on the right hand side, is the taxidermist, James Dickinson, working on some parrots. The parrots in the picture were seized in 1998 by customs and excise from a man illegally selling them. Some of the parrots were already dead - these were passed on to Leeds Museums and Galleries.
Leeds Museums and Galleries received a grant from 'Prism' of a considerable sum of money to spend on the conservation and mounting of these parrots. Now, ten years on form when they were seized, they are almost ready to go on display in the new Leeds City Museum.
