There are a number of groups and societies all over Leeds that are dedicated to the arts and museums. Leeds City Council works with a number of these group who help support museums and galleries in their research and activities.

Friends of Leeds Museums and Galleries
The 'Friends' aim to:
- Support Leeds city museums
- Raise funds for acquisitions
- Promote the use and enjoyment of the museums
- Assist in educational activities at the museums
- Assist staff 'behind the scenes'
- Encourage new friendships
- Arrange museum visits and special events
Membership is open to anyone over 18. There is an annual subscription. An individual membership is £10 per year

Leeds Art Collectors Fund (LACF)
Founded in 1912, the Fund is one of the oldest supporting 'Friends' bodies for the visual arts in Great Britain. Through subscriptions and fundraising events the LACF actively enriches the collections of Leeds Galleries.
Membership gives access to the pleasure of helping towards new purchases do art for Leeds' collections, lectures and debates on the visual arts and a variety of social activities. New members are always welcome.

Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society
