Morley History
The town has been a settlement for over a thousand years and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Morley became a borough in 1886 after intense development following the Industrial Revolution and finally became a district of Leeds in 1974 - but Morley resolutely kept its identity and traditions.
Morley is well placed in the local communications system and this has ensured its future as a booming marketing and distribution centre.

Exploring Morley
There’s lots to see in the area. Try the Morley Heritage Trail and explore the Morley and the many interesting heritage features in and around the town centre.
Morley has plenty of good architecture - don’t miss a study of the classically styled Town Hall located in Queen Street. It’s a magnificent building completed in 1895 - it’s home to the council offices and a very popular entertainment venue.
Shopping
Morley has a wide variety of quality shopping - there’s big name high street stores and lots of specialist local shops that give the town its own unique personality. The town centre is mainly traffic-free so it’s easy to browse and relax as you tour the area. Don’t miss the busy Morley Market in Queen Street, soon to be transformed with a new look - there are bargains on sale six days a week at over 100 stalls. and here’s another great bargain - Morley has now more than 1000 free parking spaces for visitors.
