Talking books

Single Image Display
  • Talking books are FREE to borrow and are a great alternative way to read a book,
  • A good narrator can really bring a story to life. What’s more, they allow you to read whilst doing other things. Many people like to listen whilst ironing, gardening or travelling.
  • For anyone who is experiencing loss of vision, or who finds it difficult to hold a standard book, talking books enable you to carry on reading.
  • We offer talking books on CD or cassette in all Leeds libraries. Mostly unabridged, there's a wide choice of popular fiction, romance, crime and mysteries, classics, biographies, humour and drama, travel, war and adventure. Reservation requests for talking books are free if you have a visual impairment or other difficulty with the printed word, otherwise the standard reservation charges will apply.
  • Download an eAudiobook from our Digital Bookshelf using your library card. If the eAudiobook that you want to read is on loan, you can join the waiting list free of charge and you will be notified when it is available to download.
