Mobile library service

Single Image Display

“The mobile library is part of our community.”

The mobile libraries visit a huge number of locations across the city and there’s something for everyone. They bring all the benefits of a modern library service to people who cannot access one of our larger libraries, or who prefer to use a more local service within their own community.

Community Mobile
Provides a weekly service, following a regular timetable and carries around 2,500 items of stock, for both adults and children, plus public internet access.

Mobile for Children and Families
Designed especially for young children and their families, there's 1,500 items specially selected to appeal to children:  board and picture books, popular stories and resources to help with homework. Parents and carers can choose from a selection of novels and information books, and access the internet. There's a cosy seating area for story-telling and a pull-out awning  outside the vehicle.

Mobile for older people
Two small vehicles with 1,000 items of stock make fortnightly visits to our older borrowers and stop close to residential homes and sheltered housing complexes, making access easier for anyone with limited mobility.
