Books and reading

Single Image Display
Choose from a million plus fiction, and over half a million non-fiction titles, all available to borrow free from libraries across the city. To let you know what’s new in libraries, we publish a weekly ‘Fiction Hotlist’ of the brand new titles, including the latest and best in general fiction, crime and thrillers, scifi, historical, fantasy, romance and more. Whichever genre you like, you’ll find something new each week. Sign up to Leeds Reads blog to receive an alert or check the ‘Everyone’s Lists’ in the catalogue. Leeds Reads also has lots of news, reviews and information about prize winners. We welcome reviews from you too.
If you want to read without leaving the comfort of your sofa, join our growing band of eBook and eAudio fans, who now download over 4000 titles a month. New titles are added every month, so there’s lots of choice.
Everyone’s welcome to come to one of our readers’ groups. If you like discussing books, why not come along and meet like-minded people, and share your thoughts and ideas. Or put pen to paper yourself with the help of one of our writers’ groups. See our related pages section on the left for more information on how to join.
Look out in our events listing for visiting authors, these are usually free events which are great fun with a chance to meet your favourite author.
