Submissions of Interest for Market Testing Manager

Role
We are seeking Market Testing information from persons or organisations interested in bidding for the role of manager tenant to recruit, mentor and oversee temporary tenants of 4 x ‘pop-up’ food units in the newly created covered Daily Market area of Kirkgate Indoor Market.  The exercise is being undertaken to engage with contractors in advance of procurement activity.  

Timescales and Value 
We anticipate that the procurement process that will follow this Market Testing Exercise will begin in November 2015 and result in a provider in place by the end of January 2016.
Background and Context 

The key objective of the Pop-Up stalls in the Daily Market space is to create a thriving incubator retail space for smaller, independent food and drink businesses. The scheme is designed to be beneficial to these specific retailers as it offers more flexibility and access to a new market, but also beneficial to the wider market offer, adding variety and interest, energy and marketing input, and providing something unique and exclusive to the market customers.

It is anticipated that the short lease approach will add new vibrancy to Kirkgate Indoor Market, adding something to the overall profile of the markets in general and encourage new customers and traders to use the market. It will also position Kirkgate Market as a supporter of high quality independent food and drink businesses.
