EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST INVITED:  CREATING A PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORD OF KIRKGATE MARKET REDEVELOPMENT

Are you a professional or keen amateur photographer?

Will you be available in Leeds city centre over the next three years?

The Markets service of Leeds City Council (“The Client”) wishes to commission a photographer to record, through images, the ‘before, during and after’ of the forthcoming major changes to Kirkgate indoor and outdoor markets and its George Street shops.

The successful applicant will be able to visit the market at different times of the day and night, on different days, and at key stages of the development, as agreed with the Client.

The purpose of this commission is to create a lasting record of the buildings and people of the market now, and document their journey through the next years to the launch of the completed, refurbished market, which is likely to be around the middle of 2016, with the George Street shops to be completed the following year.

The photographic record which you will create will be used to mount a six month exhibition at the end of the refurbishment, in Kirkgate Market and funded by Leeds City Council, and will also be placed in Leodis, the Leeds digital image database.
