International food tours

As part of their community engagement initiative, retail property specialist and developer of Victoria Gate, Hammerson, has teamed up with Leeds Kirkgate Market to deliver a series of interactive school tours, aimed at celebrating Leeds as a global city leading up to the Tour de France.

 The five week event, commencing on 24th April 2014, will showcase some of the 130 different nationalities and international communities within Leeds. It will encourage children to appreciate cultural diversity and food origins.

 The programme of events include:

 24 - 26 April – Nigerian themed school tours and events

 1 – 3 May – Chinese themed school tours and events

 8 - 10 May – African themed school tours and events

 15 - 17 May – Italian themed school tours and events

 22 – 24 May – French themed school tours and events

 Exciting cultural performances from Zulu Tradition, Nigerian community drummers and Chinese Lion dancers will be taking place as well as displays and activities from Chinese, Southern African, Nigerian, Italian and French communities...
