Businesses can vote from 29th January 2015 on whether or not to implement a Business Improvement District (BID) for Leeds city centre.

If 51% of businesses eligible to vote (those with a RV above £60k) vote yes, this will mean all eligible businesses will be levied a small extra percentage on their business rates, which the BID company will use as directed by the business community to implement extra things in the city centre over and above what the Council already delivers. This can include promotion, events, extra cleaning, Christmas lights, better enforcement, better streetscapes – all sorts of things.

Although none of our tenants will be levied, as businesses trading in the city centre they will still benefit from any improvements, which can only be a good thing!

So if you're a business in Leeds City Centre and are eligible to vote then make sure you take the time to do so!

The BID Ballot is scheduled for 29th January until 26th February 2015
