Schools Skating

Leeds City Council are once again offering schools in the Leeds Metropolitan District access to subsidised ice skating training sessions.

The NISA (National Ice Skating Association) approved First Steps to Skating programme includes basic tuition by qualified coaches with all ice skates and safety helmets provided. All pupils completing the session will also receive a signed certificate.

There are two daily sessions available on weekdays between Friday 27 January and Friday 24 February 2012 (excluding half term week - Friday 10 – Monday 20 February inclusive):-

10.45am – 11.45am
2.00pm – 3.00pm (excluding Thursdays)

Skating tuition is limited to 2 sessions per school on a strictly first come first served basis. Each 1 hour session is limited to school groups of a maximum 50 pupils. Smaller groups of a similar age range are able to share a session.

Subsidised skating fees are £3 per pupil which includes the cost of the certificates and accompanying Teachers are able to skate free of charge. Payment must be made in advance and further details are included in the schools bulletin.

All schools will need to arrange their own transport to and from the rink, public liability insurance for those skating, and to follow the approved adult child supervision ratio and respective internal systems for category 2 educational visits. Fully qualified rink staff will provide all on-ice supervision including arrangements for those with specific needs.
