Ice Rules

Please note Ice skating can be a hazardous activity so please be aware that any on-ice activity is entirely at your own risk.

All skaters should make themselves aware of the following Ice Rules before going on the ice, and follow the instructions and guidance of the Ice Marshals at all times. Remember to be aware of, respectful and courteous to other skaters at all times.

  1.  The rink suppliers, ice management company and/or Leeds City Council will not accept any liability for injuries obtained whilst visiting the ice rink
  2. The management reserves the right to refuse admission or eject any person for whatever reason
  3. CCTV is in use with images recorded for the purpose of crime prevention and safety
  4. Event Stewards are entitled to search visitors and their belongings
  5. Prohibited items include but shall not be restricted to glass, bottles, cans, alcohol, laser pens, illegal substances or any items deemed to be a potential weapon or threat to public safety. Leeds City Council will not take responsibility for prohibited items
  6. The management reserves the right to restrict the number of people on the ice
  7. Ice Marshals and event stewards are there for your safety, you must follow their directions
  8. All skaters should skate within their limitations. Speed skating or other dangerous activity is not permitted and will result in ejection
  9. Only ticket holders/skaters & staff will be permitted on to the ice
  10. Always skate in an anti-clockwise direction
  11. Chains of skaters must not consist of more than THREE people
  12. Mobile phones, cameras and personal music players are not permitted on the ice
  13. The throwing of snow or ice and the chipping or digging of holes in the ice is strictly prohibited and will result in ejection
  14. The Nursery Rink is for children aged between 2–7 years with accompanying parents / guardians only
  15. All children aged 8–12 years must be accompanied at all times at the rink by a parent or guardian (18 yrs or over). All children aged 2–7 years must be accompanied on the ice and at all times by a parent or guardian (18 yrs or over)
  16.  Safety helmets provided must be worn by children attending school sessions. During public skating sessions the hire of safety helmets is recommended for all children aged 12 years and under at parent’s/guardian’s discretion
  17. All injuries must be reported to a Rink Marshal or first aid operative and details recorded accordingly (note point 1 above)
  18. In the event of emergency evacuation follow the directions of Rink Marshals and Event Stewards. Do not return to the Pavilion to collect your belongings
  19. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the rink structure
  20. No animals permitted onto the rink except registered assistance dogs
  21. Photographs/film in which individuals may be identified, must only be taken of friends or family for your/ their personal use. Any persons wishing to photograph / film for professional purposes or uses other than those stated previously, will require prior written consent from Leeds City Council. Any unauthorised photography or filming may result in ejection
  22. All persons entering the rink consent to any photography, filming and recording as authorised and arranged by Leeds City Council for possible future transmission or promotional purposes
  23. No tickets, vouchers or discounts may be used for competitions or promotions without prior written permission of Leeds City Council
  24. Please note that repeated and prolonged exposure to amplified sound may cause hearing damage
  25. Strobe type lighting effects may be in use during some sessions

THESE RULES ARE NECESSARY FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE RINK AND ARE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE A WELCOMING, FAMILY- FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT
