Description : Woodhall Lake is owned by Bradford City Council, leased to Bradford University and managed by Leeds City Council Leisure Services Department.

The site comprises of a 0.8 hectare lake which is surrounded by a mixed broadleaf woodland. The area is well used by local people for informal recreation and fishing.

Areas of the woodland are vigorously regenerating and small scale thinning and other management operations were recently carried out to promote a diverse understorey. New planting will be carried out to create a graded edge to the woodland, which gives increased habitats for a number of species of birds and small mammals.

As part of the management scheme, native black poplar will also be planted, which makes this another rare site that contains this naturally disappearing tree species.

In consultation with the Environment Agency, the pond was dredged in 1999 to increase its amenity, fishing and wildlife value.

The Friends of Woodhall Lake carry out maintenance of the site in partnership with the Leeds City Council Area Ranger Team.

Access and facilities : Access is from Woodhall Lane in Pudsey, opposite Woodhall Croft. Public fishing is permitted and road side parking is available.
