Description : Coburnhill Wood adjoins the Binghay Woods (privately owned) which have their boundaries marked by "Rangers Walk", a public right of way. The woodland lies on the western edge of the Vale of York, and its topography allows for an undulating landscape and a pond, which provides a habitat for the Great Crested Newt (a protected species).

The main tree canopy species are european larch, beech, sycamore, ash, Scots and Corsican pine. There is a dense shrub layer in parts of the wood, particularly to the north, where hawthorn, elder and hazel dominate.

Access and facilities:
Full public access is via a series of waymarked trails for informal recreation. A leaflet is available from the Lotherton Hall Estate shop.
