Friday 3 May 2024 - £13.46 per hour (this includes £1.45 per hour holiday pay). You will be paid for a minimum of 8 hours. Minimum pay will therefore be £107.68  

Saturday 4 May 2024 - £20.14 per hour (this includes £2.17 per hour holiday pay). (Saturday rate - time and a half). You will be paid for a minimum of 6 hours. Minimum pay will therefore be £120.84.

Description of duties

  • assisting the presiding officer to prepare the polling station for the poll
  • checking identification of electors attending to vote
  • finding and marking the electors on the register of electors
  • issuing ballot papers

  • responsible for the setup of the polling station
  • supervise poll clerks
  • checking identification of electors attending to vote
  • decision making on referred identification
  • collect ballot box and equipment from the returning officer the weekend 27-28 April 2024
  • return ballot box and equipment immediately after the close of poll
  • complete online interactive training session and attend online briefing

Polling station inspector

Description of duties

  • visiting polling stations within an allocated area throughout polling day
  • first point of contact for presiding officers
  • resolving issues arising or operational problems, escalating to the Returning Officer as required
  • complete polling station checklists on each visit, noting any issues comments for the returning officer
  • assist Presiding Officers with checking identification where required
  • collection of postal votes from polling stations and deliver to the returning officer
  • collect ballot box and equipment from the returning officer the weekend 27-28 April 2024
  • responsible for the receipt of ballot boxes and equipment at the close of poll
  • complete online interactive training session and attend online briefing sessions for Polling Station Inspectors
