Disruption to services

Disruption to garden waste collections

At present the service is experiencing a high presentation of brown bins for collection. The recent spell of warm, dry weather has seen a dramatic increase in garden waste compared to just a few weeks ago when amounts were significantly less. This is resulting in delays, including some areas which we have been unable to collect.

Whilst we are doing all we can to ensure completion on scheduled collection days, the volume and weight is affecting the capacity within the vehicles. We are sending out additional resources whenever available to try to ensure that any missed brown bins are collected within 2 working days, if these are missed on the scheduled collection.

We wish to encourage those residents with large gardens to also consider the use of compost bins and remind you of the availability of local recycling sites for excessive garden waste. In addition to this all residents are entitled to a number of bulky waste collections.
