The City Council is preparing an Area Action Plan (AAP) which will provide the future planning framework to guide the regeneration of an area of the Lower Aire Valley. This area between Leeds city centre and the M1 and beyond is referred to as Aire Valley Leeds.
Work has been in progress since 2005 when ‘Early Issues for consultation’ was published.
In April 2006, the council consulted on some Alternative Options on how the area might be developed.
The Preferred Options
This document, published for consultation in October 2007, set out future development proposals for the area and described why other alternative options have been rejected, including:
A plan showing the location and type of land use change the Council will prefer over the next 15-20 years.
Proposals for new housing, greenspace, employment, schools, shops, health, community facilities, transport connections.
Detailed proposals for 11 “character areas”.
The consultation closed on 16 November 2007
A report of consultation on Preferred Options was published in April 2008.
