The Enterprise Zone in Leeds UK commenced on 1 April 2012 for an initial three years. It includes four major sites in the West Yorkshire region (see map) which provide 142 hectares of development land for office, research, industrial and distribution uses. Simplified Planning in the Enterprise Zone Enterprise Zone (EZ) status requires a simplified and speeded up approach to planning. To achieve this government promotes the use of Local Development Orders (LDOs). The LDOs simplify some planning requirements on the EZ sites and wider areas of the Aire Valley.
- LDO 1: Solar Panels – Closed January 2012
- LDO 2: Extensions, Alterations and Changes of Use - Closed March 2012
LDO 1 permits certain types of solar panel developments on the roofs of non-domestic buildings within the wider Aire Valley area. The LDO will apply until 31 March 2017.
LDO 2 permits certain extensions, alterations and change of use of industrial buildings and warehouses in the EZ and parts of Cross Green, Stourton and Hunslet subject to restrictions, exclusions and conditions. The LDO will apply until 15 August 2017.
The LDOs, boundary plans, assessment forms and guidance notes and summary of representations to consultation are available from Downloads below.
