Text, email and phone messages

We are using a messaging service to contact our customers about council tax payments that are due or overdue.

This is to help you avoid further debt and paying expensive costs.

We will never ask for your bank details.

If you have any doubt about a message, email or call you have received, please contact us and do not give out your personal details.

How we will contact you

We may contact you using one or more of the following:

  • text message (and verification screen)
  • email (and verification screen)
  • automated voice call

Text message

A genuine text message from us will:

  • be from 'LeedsLocGov'
  • advise of the amount due
  • contain a link to our payment website which is hosted by Civica

It will ask you to enter your postcode to continue:

You only have 3 chances to enter your postcode correctly.

When you have entered the correct postcode, a link to our online payment form should appear:

image showing the web page once a postcode has been correctly entered for your unique link. It will state the reference number for your council tax account, the amount due and links to pay online, go to the automated payment line or set up a direct debit

Email

A genuine email requesting payment from us will be from noreply@comms.leeds.gov.uk and will look like this:

The email will confirm the outstanding amount and give a link to our payment website which is hosted by Civica.

Automated voice calls

Automated calls from us will use your name and ask you to interact to confirm that this is correct. There is also an option for a third party to take a message for you.

The message will advise you to pay online via our website. Press one to speak to a member of our team or call us back at a more convenient time on 0113 222 4404.

If you are unsure that the call is genuine, please call us or use the contact details on our website.

If you are still concerned

If you receive a voice message, text message or email about your council tax arrears but are not sure if it is genuine, call us.
